Excellence through Effort & Enjoyment
'Kind words, Kind deeds, Kind thoughts'

Year 1 STEAM Day

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths

We've had a fantastic day in Year 1, exploring lots of things to do with the weather.

We watched two experiments today to find out how clouds are formed and how a rainbow is made.

We checked our thermometer throughout the day to see if the weather report we watched in the morning was correct. Although, we have our suspicions that the thermometer may be broken after we got a reading of 20 degrees this afternoon!

We worked really hard to design our own experiments to measure the direction or the speed of the wind. We thought really carefully about which resources to use and how to use the tools safely.

The rain gauges we have made are now hanging up around the playing field and we will monitor them over the next few weeks to see how much rain they have collected.

Thank you to all the parents who donated plastic bottles, junk modelling, building supplies and fabric to help us with our designs.

We definitely have some budding scientists in Year One.
