This is where we will share pupils' views and ideas, and how these are incorporated into life at Boughton Primary.
The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors have kick-started Anti-Bullying Week with a series of assemblies on our Odd Socks Day. You can click below to see some pictures and also the presentations they put together.
Every child also joined in with our Anti-bullying pledge to stop bullying in our school or anywhere else that they might see it.
During October 2022, we held an application process for pupils from Years 4 and 5, to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. There were 20 fantastic applications, but we could only choose 10 children.
Our ABA team are:
Year 4 - Beatrix, Phoebe, Jack, Ari, Charlotte
Year 5 - Sophia, Evelyn, Elize, Ava, Caitlin
Last term the children of Boughton Primary School had their say on how playtimes and lunchtimes were organised at our school, using an online, in-class survey. As a result of this, all classes are playing together at break and lunch and are free to use the whole of the field and playground. It has been lovely to see everyone playing together in the sunshine. Have a look at our gallery of lunchtime fun!
On Friday the 1st July we held our first ever Boughton Forum. This was a new way for us to gather Pupil Voice, getting the children’s opinions on how things are at our school and ways we can make it better.
We have always completed pupil surveys every year, but the forum gave us an opportunity to do things differently. We discussed a range of topics with the children including: Quality of Education, Reading, Behaviour and Anti-bullying, Personal Development and Wellbeing, Lunchtimes and Playtimes. These discussions allowed the children to voice their opinions and listen to the opinions of others. Finally, the children had an opportunity to anonymously answer some “Big Questions”. They were asked to vote yes or no and then had space for a comment. The results are as follows:
“I enjoy learning at this school.” Yes 90% No 10%
“Learning to read and enjoying reading is important at our school.” Yes 94% No 6%
“Our school deals with behaviour and bullying issues well.” Yes 84% No 16%
“I enjoy playtimes and lunchtimes.” Yes 93% No 7%
“Our school helps me look after my emotional, mental and physical health.” Yes 99% No 1%
There were lots of positives to be taken from the information, but also some opportunities to make improvements. Reviewing our school’s behaviour and anti-bullying policy is already a planned item in our School Development Plan for the next academic year.
Mrs James will be sharing the results of the Pupil Forum with the children and we would like to thank them all for taking part and helping to make a difference. We are listening and their opinions matter!
