Why do we have a uniform?

A uniform is a way of signifying that our children belong to our school community, creating a shared identity and a common sense of purpose.

Uniforms can provide a practical solution in ensuring that clothing worn for school is practical, safe and fit for day to day use.

Equality, Cost and Sustainability

However, we are also mindful of our obligations to ensure equal access for all and sustainability. As a school, we are acutely aware of striking a balance between having pride in our appearance at school and ensuring this is affordable for parents.

With that in mind, we offer “NEW 2 U” uniform sales at various points during the year, where parents and carers can buy pre-owned and pre-loved uniform from school, at bargain prices.

This includes all the compulsory items listed below, whether branded or non-branded.

No pupil should be discouraged from participating in any aspect of school life, because of the cost of additional uniform requirements.

Individuality

We hold regular dressing up or dressing down events (Mufti), for charity and for other school occasions.  These provide an opportunity for children to express their individuality, and to wear additional items such as jewellery, hair colouring etc.  We are still mindful of our health and safety obligations on such days, and ask for parents’ support in this.
